The Survey Institute of Zimbabwe (SIZ) is dedicated to supporting the next generation of surveyors. Through our Students and Young Surveyors Support programme, we provide mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities to ensure that young professionals are empowered to succeed in a competitive and rapidly evolving profession.
SIZ hosts a representative for the Young Surveyors Network (YSN), which connects Zimbabwe’s young surveyors to the wider African and global YSN community. This network is part of a vibrant international movement under the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), creating platforms for young professionals to exchange ideas, build skills, and showcase innovation.
Being part of the YSN allows young Zimbabwean surveyors to:
Access a global platform for networking and collaboration.
Share knowledge and experiences with peers across Africa and beyond.
Participate in international events, conferences, and exchange programmes.
Gain exposure to new technologies and best practices shaping the future of surveying.
SIZ provides targeted support for students enrolled in surveying and geo-spatial engineering disciplines, including:
Student Membership – discounted membership that connects students with the professional community.
Mentorship Opportunities – pairing students with experienced surveyors for career guidance.
Workshops & Seminars – designed specifically to help students bridge academic knowledge with practical industry skills.
Scholarships & Awards – where available, to encourage academic excellence and professional growth.
Career Pathways – guidance on transitioning from student to graduate and professional membership.
For early-career professionals (typically under 35 years of age or within 10 years of graduation), SIZ provides:
Young Surveyors Network Activities – forums, networking events, and peer-to-peer learning.
Leadership Opportunities – representation on SIZ committees and in international YSN activities.
